For over 60 years, The New Providence Development Company (NPDCo) has been the defining force behind luxury development in Nassau, The Bahamas. Our story begins in December 1945, when Canadian entrepreneur Edward Plunket Taylor—known simply as "E.P. Taylor"—first visited Nassau and was captivated by the natural beauty and warmth of New Providence Island. Recognising the island's extraordinary potential, he acquired over five thousand acres across western New Providence and began developing what would become the legendary community of Lyford Cay and the exclusive Lyford Cay Club in 1956.
Officially incorporated in 1962, The New Providence Development Company was established to oversee E.P. Taylor's visionary development plan: transforming western New Providence into a world-class destination. This ambitious vision came to fruition over many years through the creation of numerous communities, including Old Fort Bay and the exquisite Old Fort Bay Club, the acclaimed Albany resort community, The Island House hotel, and the dynamic commercial districts that have established western New Providence as one of the Caribbean's most desirable places to live.
